Mom says we are saving all these to buy my future house...
What about the stickers inside??
After about 6 years in Singapore. We have packed up our memories and entered a not so booming yet exciting new country. Until we get our driver's license, we will not be New Yorkers but alas, this place can grow on you. All 5 of us, an unlikely yet loving couple, a 6th grader encyclopedia, a 4th grader who knows it all and a dare devil toddler. This is our life, our journal, our journey.

What do I do with these?
Ang Pows for breakfast?
How do I eat them?
They are pretty good for hiding
to avoid all the "paparazzi"!

Letitia's Chinese New Year Eve
We've finally figured out that there's more than one new year! We now have to work out what a "year" is! Meanwhile, because we are CHINESE, we wear chinese clothes (except mom!). Big smiles for the season!
Mathena's Chinese New Year Eve
"So what is the big deal with this?" says Mathena.
Hope you like my chinese outfit...a gift from good friends in Shanghai. I match with Letitia.

Can we be reminded of this?
Love is kind and patient,
never jealous, boastful,
proud, or rude.
Love isn't selfish
or quick tempered.
It doesn't keep a record
of wrongs that others do.
Love rejoices in the truth,
but not in evil.
Love is always supportive,
loyal, hopeful,
and trusting.
Love never fails!
Everyone who prophesies
will stop,
and unknown languages
will no longer
be spoken.
All that we know
will be forgotten.
For now there are faith,
hope, and love.
But of these three,
the greatest is love.

Starting PREP
Our little girl is going to "BIG" school soon. How exciting and bitter sweet.
Letitia's been looking forward to wearing uniforms (dresses esp) and attending big children school for so long. She's had the experience of day-care preschool but this is the real thing...9am-3pm for Mondays and Tuesdays.
We are only worried about how tired she'll be as she still zzzzz for 2-3 hours each afternoon... poor thing, she'll be in for a physical shock!
Pray for us through this transition times and may GOD use this opportunity to build a strong foundation of HIS word and love into her through a Christian education system.

Rooster of a Year
Okay, we are suppose to be in the hype of preparing for Chinese New Year. Honestly? I am quite tired and would like to escape....we are in the best position to do so! Small town, not a lot of Chinese culture, kids with runny noses, no money, no relatives near-by...
For one thing, I will have to somehow clean up my entire house before the new year dawns, cook rice and have leftovers in the pot, not sweep or clean house on the first day of New Year as well as dress my entire family in new clothes.
The house cleaning seems achievable.....I now believe that my house is constantly a mess because somewhere in my past, I did a bad job on one new year eve. I can just see all the breadcrumbs and food-bits picked up by my dear sweet Mathena and heading straight into her mouth. YUMM!
Rice is nice, I will stick true to that belief as I cannot bear an empty cupboard. I have to have rice. I have to have food when the hour draws near. Alex can vouch that I turn into some sort of an "incredible hulk" when I am low in food levels. This just might means that we'll have to cook for the NY eve and not eat out. Shucks!
New Clothes, remind me to keep all the gifts aside for occasions like this. Does the term "new" mean to be new to us? or it has to be new off the shelf? The range at the Salvation Op shops and St Vinnies are pretty good and cheap. Just not enough range for kids. Might do my shopping there if it does not bring a bad omen.
In hope, we'll be more prosperous (if we spend less?), we'll be happier (if we eat more?) and be wealthy (how is that possible without a raise in 4 years?)...
Have a good Rooster 15 days of celebration, everyone!
