Yes, this one is about Alex.
We've been getting loads of enquiry about how he's doing with all the train travelling. Most of the stuff I blog about is off the kids and not much of him.
Alex is doing well. He's up at 5.30 each morning Mon-fri. He tries hard to NOT wake me (but fails miserably) and gets his own breakfast. Long gone are the days where he wakes up to nice, yummy and hot breakfast (like the kids do). He's resorted to whatever's the quickest.
Mathena will wake up each morning (without fail) asking, "where's daddy?" I'll have to answer, "daddy's gone to work!". Alex's day is very long. He tries to get to work before 8am and then leaves work by 4.30pm so that he can get home by 6.30pm. He's free to do lots fo reading and listening while on the commute. He's also free to do some yoga during lunch.
Due to the long hours, Alex has neglected his garden quite a bit. The bonzais are all on 'survival" mode and the garden patch has started a life of it's own. Our chillies are harvesting and we are stocking them up in the freezer for when the CHUAs arrive. We now have up to 3 types of "hot" in the chilli family. So, our cuisine can be controlled according to heat level...instead of 'firey hot" each time.
The girls only have less than 2 hours on the weekdays with Alex. When he's eating dinner, they come and go to get his attention. Then we all pack up to get ready for bed. He's main job now is to put them to bed and read with them...as this is about the only time they have.
The weekend is catch up time. Letitia now plays an hour of basketball on Saturdays (when it's on) and all three of them have a bit fo fun together. Letitia goes through "rookie training" while Mathena just bounces the ball with her daddy. I get a bit of time out. The rest of the day, it's "daddy this, daddy that, daddy did you know?"
This is not the best situation we like. Alex misses the girls and vice versa. We are doing the best we can in all our decisions. Life goes on, God still takes good care of us all, life goes on!
