Running up to Changi

As true as "Murphy's law" can be....we had some exciting and some NOT so exciting things happened to yours truly even before we boarded the plane on to Heathrow!

We were due to head off Tuesday night around 10.30pm so the day before and the entire day of Tuesday was dedicated to packing and sorting all the last minutes arrangements out. On Wednesday night, I went to bed with a really sore and red left eye. After taking out my faithful contact lenses, I went to bed very early (10pm due to exhaustion) quite uncomfortably. When I woke the next day, my eye did not recover and I felt that I should at least have it checked out by a GP. Thanks goodness Alex had taken the day off and Mathena has a morning in playgroup. I soon discovered that I had an eye infection that required immediate attention in the A & E. 2 hours and more than S$100 later, I came home with drops and specific intructions to FOREVER not wear contacts anymore.

Yikes! My entire rest of my life will be me and my spectacles. The joys of seeing things without turning my head are now all gone. My vision will forever be limited to the size of my lenses and I will constantly twitch my nose to adjust the silly frame on my face.

....that's fine and we continued to prepare to head off.

We reached the airport earlier with our 6 pieces of luggage. We had intended to have dinner there and do a bit of browsing at the reknown "shopping centre airport" in Singapore. Lo and behold ONE MORE THING just had to happen before we fly off.

I lost my phone in the public toilets taking the girls. For a split second, I reminded myself not to forget my phone after we leave the cubicle but I did. It was only after we had finished our dinner had I realised that my precious Nokia 6288 was missing. I search high and low and talked to all the necessary people about it. I even filed a report hoping that we can claim it somewhere (here's hoping). The phone is one thing, all my memories and all my personal information is in that little gadget. I am REALLY very attached to this phone, I really must get over it.

We left Changi quite downcast and gloomy. The flight was FULL and we were packed in like sardines. 14 hours was quite long and very torturous esp when your 3 yo insist of lying horizontal all the way in her sleep.

It is now day 4 in our travels. I am in the hotel resting with Mathena while Alex and Letitia is down in the wedding hall dancing a storm in all their Scottish elements. Today was bagpipes, freezing winds, stoned wall castles, food, great family catch ups!
